Title: Manager, Marketing & Business Development
Location: Corner Brook, NL
Venor is proud to partner with our client, Port of Corner Brook in their search for a Manager, Marketing & Business Development.
A senior level manager that contributes to the Port’s vision and execution through marketing, communications, collaborative planning, stakeholder engagement, and the execution of business development initiatives that align with the Port’s mandate and values. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the Port’s business development strategy, enhancing its community and stakeholder relationships, and ensuring that marketing and operational initiatives effectively support economic growth and organizational excellence.
What you will be doing:
Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement:
- Provide strategic leadership in marketing, branding, media relations, and public communications to ensure consistent and impactful messaging across all audiences.
- Design and implement community engagement initiatives, including Port-hosted events, outreach programs, and sponsorships that reflect the Port’s values and community role.
- Represent the Port in external forums, consultations, and partnership engagements to foster collaboration and advance shared priorities.
- Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and economic indicators to inform strategic planning.
Business Development & Economic Growth:
- Lead the development and execution of strategies to grow cruise tourism, industrial trade, and commercial real estate operations in alignment with the Port’s evolving business objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify and cultivate opportunities that enhance the cruise experience and increase passenger traffic.
- Develop and maintain relationships with cruise lines and industrial clients, negotiate contracts, and oversee project delivery.
- Oversee commercial leasing and real estate development, including lease negotiations, property planning, and tenant relations to maximize asset value.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for industrial partnerships, logistics enhancements, and supply chain development.
- Implement strategies to attract and retain industrial tenants for developed properties.
- Manage lease agreements and property operations to optimize occupancy and performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, and industry associations.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and tradeshows to stay informed and identify new opportunities.
- Prepare and present reports on business development activities, budgets, and performance metrics.
Leadership
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Cruise & Community Engagement Coordinator and the Marketing & Industry Communications Coordinator, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.
- Lead departmental budgeting and financial planning, contributing to broader corporate financial strategies.
- Ensure team compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in marketing and business development within the port, maritime, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of cruise tourism, industrial operations, and real estate development.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and market trends.
- Proficiency in strategic planning and project management.
- Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, and industry events.
