Key Responsibilities
- Develop market access, health economics & outcomes research strategies to gain, maintain, and optimize reimbursement for new and existing products with public and private payers.
- Develop submission dossiers for CDA, INESSS, and private payers, including budgetary impact analyses and economic analyses, leveraging the global value dossier and payer tools.
- Plan and coordinate Canadian health economics & outcomes studies to support reimbursement strategies for new and existing products.
- Develop and co‑lead the environment shaping strategy with government affairs and public affairs colleagues.
- Ensure effective communication of health economics & outcomes study progress and results to relevant audiences (e.g., investigators, brand team).
- Liaise with consultants, contract research organizations, and economic experts on health economics & outcomes research projects.
- Play an active role on Brand Team to identify opportunities to collaborate with cross‑functional colleagues to deliver on brand objectives.
- Monitor timelines and budget expenditures for market access initiatives & health economics & outcomes studies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science; bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
- Graduate degree in pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology, or drug development (asset).
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar role in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Expertise in market access, pharmacoeconomic, and outcomes research with experience dealing directly with payers and health technology agencies.
- Strong commercial/business background (asset).
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Clinical acumen or ability to acquire it quickly across therapeutic areas, preference for oncology.
- Strong communication effectiveness, medical writing (technical) skills, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinking, analytical and data interpretation skills to support value proposition development for public and private payer needs.
- Strong cross‑functional leadership skills and team player; work with field‑based Market Access & Government Affairs team, Brand Teams, and global Market Access & HEOR organization.
- Initiative and action‑driven; translate Market Access & HEOR strategies into actionable plans to maximize reimbursement opportunities for AbbVie products.
- Prioritize and project management skills; manage multiple projects across therapeutic areas under stress.
- High quality standards & rigor; detail oriented.
- Understanding of public and private drug reimbursement landscape and health technology assessment process in Canada.
- Understanding of pharmacoeconomic principles/guidelines and methodological developments; experience in economic study development with internal and external experts.
- Participated in publication process / RWE / data generation projects.
- Strong strategic problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of a Canadian health care environment and care pathways.
- Previous experience dealing directly with payers (asset).
- Advanced knowledge of English (written and verbal); advanced knowledge of French desired but not essential.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
- Experience with payer‑specific databases (PharmaStat, RxDynamics, etc.) and clinical trial databases; decision modeling (TreeAge) database experience.
Travel & Availability
Travel: Availability to travel within Canada about 10 % of the time and 10 % of the time internationally.
Valid passport and driver’s license required.
