A leading pharmaceutical company in York Region, Canada, is seeking a Manager, Maintenance/Engineering. This role involves overseeing maintenance operations and ensuring compliance with engineering standards while leveraging technical expertise. We are seeking a Manager, Maintenance/Engineering to join our team. This role involves overseeing and executing maintenance operations with a strong understanding of building life cycles, estimating job costs based on scope of work, and applying hands‑on technical expertise in industrial environments. Key duties include strategic maintenance planning, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, leveraging basic computer skills (Word and Excel) for documentation and reporting, and utilizing electrical or millwright knowledge to support facility reliability and performance.
Executes and manages site performance through effective problem solving with experience in process utilities, HVAC, OEMs, process chemicals, BAS, purified water systems (PWS), instrumentation.
Typically resolves complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist.
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes.
Responsible for employees assigned to site maintenance and site systems. Often leads the work of project teams; may formally train junior staff.
Responsible for contractors hired to execute site‑related work and ongoing projects as required.
Responsible for site daily activities like pest control, heating and cooling, cleaning, ground and building maintenance, PWS.
Responsible for the execution of any renovation work and projects.
Orders consumables/parts for site group and site consumption and maintains stores.
Executes repairs as needed for both production and building.
Hazard recognition and investigation skills: identify, prevent, and proactively correct workplace hazards and conditions. Perform incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, and establish appropriate corrective action.
Role modeling: role modeling of EHS practices to prevent the release of materials/energy, reduce EHS impacts, and ensure adherence to EHS regulatory requirements and procedures.
