Job description

The Manager of Foodservice Insights and Analytics will be responsible for unearthing consumer, customer and category insights that will inspire innovative and strategic thinking in the business. Leveraging hindsight, insight, and foresight, the Insights Manager will be able to build concise stories with actionable business recommendations with the goal of unlocking new opportunities across our core portfolio and with our customer partners. The successful candidate in this role will help guide cross-functional partners within the organization to make business decisions based on the consumer, customer, and market trends. The Manager will ensure that core innovation is consumer relevant and driven by market insights. The scope of this role will be primarily supporting US and Canada Foodservice, specifically National Accounts. Secondarily, this role will also work with the Insights Director on primary Qualitative and Quantitative research, from concept testing to operator in-depth interviews, working with research suppliers to undertake required studies

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Leverages multiple data sources to tell a holistic story linking consumer and operator insights, market trends and portfolio solutions for our Foodservice customer partners
  • Ability to leverage custom and syndicated sources to develop foresight on growth trends for the Foodservice landscape and Seafood industry
  • Plays as an integral part of annual strategic planning, proving a point of view on category and company growth, share targets, and insights and trends to feed into future marketing direction
  • Advanced presentation skills, confident presenting insights and recommendations internally to different management levels and to Foodservice customers across North America
  • Be the expert on FS consumer / operator / menu trends from key suppliers and provide timely trends updates to marketing / sales / product development
  • Proficient in key Foodservice data tools and applications including Datassential, Circana SupplyTrack, Circana CREST, Technomic, CRC and others (as necessary)
  • Presents at key Foodservice department meetings on business results and trends
  • Understands a broad spectrum of research methodologies (i.e. focus groups, ethnography, usage & attitude, segmentation, concept testing, product testing, etc.)
  • Ability to translate research briefs into research design and execute through to completion of research including business implications and action-based recommendations
  • Develops a clear perspective on the insights and data needs of the business, vendor evaluation and relationship management for each fiscal year based on needs of the cross-functional teams
  • Develops and maintains internal topline reporting, quarterly business reviews, ELT materials, and other ad-hoc reporting and analysis for internal FS and leadership team purposes
  • Co-leads key Quarterly and year-end business reviews with FS Sales and Marketing leaders on industry trends and High Liner and competitor performance
  • Maintain Foodservice Insights share point and sharing of data and information to the organization

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 – 5 years of experience in one or more of: data analytics, account/category management, conducting primary research
  • High level analytical capability and the ability to assimilate and interpret data from multiple disparate data sources into concise action-oriented recommendations
  • Proficiency in using syndicated data and panel metrics (Circana Supplytrack, CREST, etc)
  • Experience or knowledge with consumer research methodologies both qualitative and quantitative in nature
  • Strong decision making capability
  • Track record of successfully implemented recommended strategies at the customer level
  • Experience presenting and collaborating with internal partners and external customers
  • Experience communicating complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels
  • Experience in managing vendor/customer relationships
  • Expert Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel

Preferred:

  • Experience in the Foodservice CPG industry
  • Experience in storytelling and drawing consumer insights from data / research
  • Experience with consumer-led innovation processes
  • Development and application of analytics, principles, theories and concepts
  • Experience providing industry, consumer, and customer trends to develop strategic action plans
