Position Summary:

As the leader of the Finance / Accounting Function in Canada, the Finance Manager for Belanger plays a hands-on role in day-to-day accounting practices, leading the local accounting team to ensure compliance and reporting that satisfies Canadian regulations and company expectations. The Finance Manager is a member of the Canadian Leadership Team and contributes to strategic and financial planning as well as day-to-day management of the Belanger business. This role currently has 2 direct reports.

Responsibilities

Lead / Manage Day to Day Accounting Function

  • Provide support to Corporate Finance, Global Accounts Payable and Global Credit and Collections teams as needed.
  • Process accounts payable, including invoice verification, coding, and timely payment to vendors.

Lead Month-End, Quarter-End, Year-End Close and Reporting

  • Ownership of general ledger accuracy and interpretation of financial results for operations.
  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes including review/preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations and internal reporting.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Finance to support annual audit and tax preparation processes.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Provide insights and analysis to improve topline and bottom-line results through sound financial decision making.
  • Lead Canadian financial planning and forecasting, including departmental/budget development and analysis (Sales, Marketing, Admin, Manufacturing, Distribution).
  • Identify and champion margin enhancement and cost reduction initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and develop direct reports (2) with opportunities for growth within the team and department.
  • Elevate the strategic role of Finance / Accounting within Belanger.
  • Collaborate across the organization with the Canadian Management Team.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 7–10 years in senior roles within a Canadian division of a multinational manufacturing/distribution organization.
  • Experience leading day-to-day accounting activities for a Canadian Business Unit.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel; SAP and OneStream are assets.
  • Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented with strong organizational/analytic skills.
  • Results-driven in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency for month-end results.
  • Experience in cost accounting for manufacturing operations is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and French; able to work in a bilingual environment.

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (MBA preferred).
  • Canadian Accounting/Financial Designation (CPA preferred, but relevant experience will be considered).

En tant que leader de la fonction Finance/Comptabilité pour Bélanger, le/la Responsable Financier(ère) joue un rôle actif dans les pratiques comptables quotidiennes et dirige l’équipe locale pour assurer conformité et reporting selon les réglementations canadiennes et les attentes de l’entreprise. Le poste est actuellement doté de 2 subordonnés directs.

Responsabilités du poste :

Relevant du Directrice Générale et en collaboration avec les homologues américains, le/la Responsable Financier(ère) de Bélanger se concentrera sur les domaines suivants :

  • Diriger / Gérer la fonction comptable quotidienne
    • Fournir un soutien aux équipes Finance Corporate, Comptes Fournisseurs et Crédit & Recouvrement globaux.
    • Traiter les comptes fournisseurs, y compris vérification, codification et paiement rapide.

Superviser les clôtures et rapports

  • Assurer l’exactitude du grand livre et l’interprétation des résultats.
  • Superviser les clôtures mensuelles, trimestrielles et annuelles et les rapports internes.
  • Soutenir les processus annuels d’audit et de préparation fiscale.

Planification et analyse financière

  • Fournir des analyses pour améliorer les résultats et la rentabilité.
  • Diriger la planification financière et les prévisions au Canada, incluant budgets par département.
  • Identifier des initiatives d’amélioration des marges et de réduction des coûts.

Leadership et développement d’équipe

  • Gérer et développer deux subordonnés directs.
  • Renforcer le rôle stratégique de la Finance/Comptabilité.
  • Collaborer avec les autres membres de la direction canadienne.

Connaissances et expérience

  • 7–10 ans dans des postes seniors dans une division canadienne d’un groupe multinational.
  • Expérience en gestion comptable quotidienne pour une unité commerciale canadienne.
  • Maîtrise d’Excel; SAP et OneStream appréciés.
  • Compétences en leadership et communication.
  • Gestion du temps et capacité à prioriser plusieurs tâches.
  • Autonomie et rigueur, avec analyste et organisation fortes.
  • Orientation résultats et capacité à travailler en environnement dynamique.
  • Expérience en comptabilité analytique dans le secteur manufacturier est un plus.
  • Capacité de travailler en bilingue anglais/français.

Formation et certification

  • Baccalauréat en comptabilité ou finance (MBA souhaité).
  • Désignation CPA canadienne préférée; expérience pertinente considérée.
