About the role

This is an opportunity to join the non-financial reporting and disclosure organization of Canada’s largest Property & Casualty company.

The role is responsible for Intact Financial Corporation’s (IFC’s) development of new or enhanced ESG disclosure practices. For Intact, this means responding to new or evolving mandatory reporting to regulators, investors, and other stakeholders.

This role involves the project management required to build IFC’s annual global Social Impact Report and subsidiary / regional disclosure exercises (e.g., EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and ensure that IFC’s approach to ESG disclosure aligns with its business objectives and stakeholder expectations.

This role provides the robust data and narrative that supports communications teams globally in sharing the story of IFC’s social impact agenda across our channels. Based in Montreal or Toronto, this role reports into our UK-based Director of ESG Disclosure and Communications.

What You’ll Do

Project manage the execution of IFC’s ESG disclosure strategy, including our annual Social Impact and ESG Report, and provide insights and recommendations to enhance our approach.

Create informative ESG reporting approaches that convey performance linked to IFC’s three strategic objectives of our customers are our advocates, our people are engaged, and our company is one of the most respected, and our response to material ESG issues.

Ensure rigorous finance-level data governance and controls processes are applied to material non-financial data to ensure accuracy of information.

Track and measure the effectiveness of ESG performance, reporting, and ESG communications, using analytics to refine and improve strategies and communicate progress to senior management and Board.

Act as a bridge across key departments, working with finance, legal, risk, HR and operations to establish and monitor performance and data.

Build strong relationships with lines of business to understand current market sentiment, expectations, and capabilities with respect to social impact and ESG.

Maintain a watching brief of ‘best in class’ ESG performance assessment frameworks, data and technology platforms.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum 5 years experience in either Sustainability, ESG or Non-financial disclosure.

Experience in corporate reporting and communications – is required.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and work with agility across multiple teams and jurisdictions, whilst retaining a focus on data quality and accuracy.

Highly analytical mindset with an ability to distil ESG performance data into strategic insights and recommendations.

Senior stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.

Self-directed problem solver, resourceful and proactive, as well as creative thinker, curious and open to innovative ideas and approaches.

For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
