Job Summary
RBC PH&N Investment Counsel ("RBC PH&N IC") is one of Canada’s leading boutique investment counselling firms with investment professionals nationwide acting exclusively for high-net-worth clients and small business owners. We provide clients with discretionary investment management and privileged access to the expertise of our RBC Wealth Management Services team, which includes highly accredited lawyers, accountants, and financial planning specialists. As Manager, Practice Enablement, your role is to enable Philips, Hager & North Investment Counsel (PH&N IC) support staff and field teams to deliver an exceptional client experience. You will be responsible for effectively managing the support staff that help Investment Counsellors with their interactions with clients, as well as addressing any operational issues they encounter. This will be conducted by either liaising with Wealth Management Operations or driving innovative and effective operations and client practices that align with the latest thought leadership and insight.
Responsibilities
- Support the investment counsellors and their businesses in ensuring outstanding risk alerts and missing documents are actioned by teams.
- Help staff resolve operational issues that arise through their work, remove barriers for staff in their interactions with CWM Operations, and provide appropriate escalation support for issues that require executive visibility.
- Accountable for sharing/contributing best practices across their entire team to drive effective operations, and leading change in their offices for any head office change initiatives and efforts.
- Handling talent acquisition requests and onboarding by executing the procedural aspects of managing teams as well as ensuring effective onboarding experiences for staff.
- Develop career goals/plans for staff, actively understand staff workload, identify learning and development opportunities, and coach staff to high performance levels.
- Resolve teaming issues and drive effective working relationships within Investment Counsellor teams.
- Participate in the regular performance management cycle, working closely with Investment Counsellors to understand staff performance, manage low performance through coaching, and effective leadership.
- Create an environment of employee engagement and effectiveness; also develop a talent pipeline by understanding capacity requirements and availability across staff and allocating resources effectively, as well as any potential succession plans.
Qualifications
- Must have experience in a financial services leadership capacity with strong communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing people, leading large teams, and leading by motivating.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to deal with ambiguity, organization and time management skills, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Experience in assisting wealth management teams and client facing roles.
- Experience leading and dealing effectively with change management.
Nice to Have
- Investment designation such as CIM or CFP.
- University Degree.

Compensation
The expected salary range for the above position is $62,000 - $110,000 depending on factors including experience.
