Salary: Manager, Early Learning and Care Salary Scale (starting at $101,355 - $112,367 per annum) with Competitive Benefit Package (health & dental) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 5 float days)

Responsibilities
- Leadership: Build a climate for the team to succeed in the delivery of quality early learning and care programs and services to meet the requirements of licensing, funders and the needs of the communities served
- Leadership: Evaluate contribution of each Supervisor, motivate, coach and engage individuals to achieve the delivery of high quality early learning experiences to children and families respectful of diversity and social inclusion
- Leadership: Conduct annual evaluations for all supervised positions
- Leadership: Delegate responsibility and activities, retaining accountability when implementing new projects or strategies functioning as a key contributor accountable to achieve established project goals and outcomes
- Leadership: Provide leadership and facilitates planning, implementation and evaluation of particular curricula or programming that achieve annual goals consistent with the Agency’s strategic plan, philosophy, vision and mission
- Leadership: Establish and maintain a range of partnerships with local communities to achieve operating capacity enrolment and collaborate in potential development of new programs and / or services
- Leadership: Organize and provide professional development for Child Care staff and or providers
- Leadership: Evaluate the impact of the implementation of new curricula
- Leadership: Support the program supervisors to ensure that the child care operations are in compliance with the Ministry and City requirements
- Leadership: Participate on management committees and project teams as required
- Leadership: Cover for the director in his / her absence.
Administration :
- Provide oversight of day to day activities of each centre and / or program to achieve the mission, vision and strategic objectives of the Agency
- Coordinate the collection of relevant statistical data and prepare reports of aggregated month end centre / program statistics and submits to the Program Director
- Effectively oversees serious occurrences / accident investigations and escalate or report appropriately
- Oversee property / building maintenance and repair; liaise with the landlord regarding tenancy issues
Human Resources Management & Financial Accountability :
- Lead by example, share knowledge and model change management theory and practice with staff when implementing or changing program or Agency priorities and practices
- Engage, mentor, coach and build capacity within the supervisor’s team
- Recruit, hire and monitors the staff’s performance
- Assist HR team in recruitment of casual staff and provide ongoing training
- Support investigations as needed (client complaints, employee investigations, etc.)
- Foster environment of team work and continues quality improvement
- Monitor centres budget; investigate and addresses budget variances with the Program Director and the Director, Finance and Administration
- Assists in the preparation of annual operating budgets as required
- Approve capital expenditures and requisitions, staff expenses, staffing requests etc.
Qualifications
- or in Early Childhood Education with 5 years’ experience in group care leading and supervising early childhood educators, assistants and support staff in a unionized environment
- Experience with the Play Based approach, ELECT framework and “How does learning happen?”
- Demonstrated ability to introduce and lead innovative early learning projects
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire and engage supervisors and staff
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, strong ability to prioritize
- Strong working knowledge of child development
- Strong working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act and City of Toronto Assessment for Quality Improvement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with children with special needs within a child care setting
- Demonstrated flexibility and excellent problem solving skills to meet the day-to-day requirements of the position
- Demonstrated ability to act or react decisively in challenging situations, make informed decisions and escalate appropriately
- Experience working in an inclusive setting with a diverse community
- Clear Vulnerable Police Record Check
- Current Standard First Aid certification and appropriate medical and immunization record
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle is required.
