POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager will provide operational management and co-ordination of assigned clinical areas. S/he is also responsible for the implementation of operational and strategic objectives. The Manager will, together with the Director, and the Community Based Division Head, manage the functioning of services within the MH Program Community Based Division Working with the Medical Leads, Clinical Leans and PPLs, s/he will directly supervise and facilitate development of staff within assigned areas, and oversee the establishment of a strong cohesive team. Working with the Director and the Leadership team, s/he will contribute to program planning and implementation, quality improvement initiatives and will promote an environment of creativity and innovation in the delivery of services. S/he may be responsible for management of off-site services.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and supervise designated services within the Mental Health Community Based Division
• Participating in the development of Program strategies
• Implementing the Programs strategies
• Participating in the development of Corporate Goals and Objectives and providing expert advice to the Executive Team.
• Working in collaboration with staff and physicians in other Programs/Departments to ensure effective delivery of patient care/services
• Lead strategic partnerships with community agencies, school boards, primary care providers, hospitals, MCCSS and CYMH Ministry of Health partners to improve service integration and access
• Represent CHEO Mental Health on regional and provincial planning tables and working groups.
• Support implementation of system transformation initiatives and regional care pathways
• Monitor service demand, wait times, client flow, and access targetsLead operational planning and performance improvement initiatives to improve timely access to care
• Support development and implementation of clinical pathways, standards of care, and best practices
• Managing human resources effectively which includes:
  Hiring staff, scheduling staff, managing staff performance, managing attendance
  Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  Conducting performance appraisals and dealing with performance related issues, imposing discipline, recommending terminations
  Ensuring staff have the required resources to carry out their functions
  Manage within assigned budgets; monitor expenses; process payments
  Respond to environmental issues to provide for a safe and healthy work environment
  Liaise with external agencies to enhance regional relationships and projects with respect to mental health care
  Represent the Mental Health on hospital and community committees as required
  Actively participate in Quality Improvement and Risk Management initiatives for the Mental Health Program
