Job summary

Wealthsimple in Canada is seeking a Senior Manager to own and scale our brokerage general ledger processes, sitting at the intersection of Operations, Finance and Engineering to translate booking logic into reliable workflows.

You will safeguard ledger integrity, support regulatory audits, automate workflows with engineering, mentor the team, and drive process improvements to reduce manual work and prevent single points of failure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in brokerage or broker-dealer accounting, finance, or ledger operations.
• Direct general ledger experience operating an in-house or non-outsourced ledger day-to-day.
• Fluent cross-functional communication: translate technical requirements to Finance and Accounting logic.
• Experience with regulatory oversight, such as MFRs or SOC audit support.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Ledger Integrity: lead efforts for accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for client data.
• Remediate Systemic Issues: investigate data anomalies in the general ledger and design automated solutions.
• Lead Audit Readiness: coordinate deliverables for brokerage audits and maintain process documentation.
• Oversee Asset Movements: monitor ledger transfers and manage exception handling timelines.
• Scale Operations: partner with Engineering to automate workflows and support new product launches.
• Develop the Team & Processes: mentor staff and design improvements to reduce manual work.

About The Role

Reporting to the Director, Brokerage Account Operations, you will own and scale our brokerage general ledger processes. You sit at the intersection of Operations, Finance, and Engineering-translating transactional booking logic into reliable operational workflows. Your core mission is to safeguard ledger integrity, ensure regulatory audit readiness, and systematically improve core brokerage processes.

About the Team:

The Brokerage Operations team manages the engine behind Wealthsimple's brokerage services. We ensure billions of dollars move seamlessly, accurately, and in full compliance with regulatory standards. Our team works cross-functionally to bridge technical engineering specs with real-world financial accuracy.

What You'll Do

• Ensure Ledger Integrity: Lead cross-functional efforts to ensure accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for all client transactional data.
• Remediate Systemic Issues: Investigate data anomalies entering the general ledger, tracing root causes to design automated, long-term solutions.
• Lead Audit Readiness: Coordinate operational deliverables for brokerage audits (SOC, FinOps, MFRs) and maintain robust process documentation.
• Oversee Asset Movements: Monitor internal and external ledger transfer bookings, tracking timelines so exception cases are handled promptly.
• Scale Operations: Partner with Engineering to automate manual workflows, reduce operational risk, and support new product launches.
• Develop the Team & Processes: Mentor team members while designing process improvements that reduce manual burden and eliminate single points of failure.

Skills You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in brokerage or broker-dealer accounting, finance, or ledger operations.
• Direct general ledger experience operating an in-house or non-outsourced ledger day-to-day.
• Cross-functional fluency with the ability to communicate technical requirements to Engineering and accounting logic to Finance.
• Experience with regulatory oversight, such as Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs) or SOC audit support.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience mapping software systems like Oracle GL or NetSuite.
• Hands-on experience using SQL
