In this role, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive market strategies for our national retail network over the immediate and long-term. You will contribute to the overall success of Canadian Banking Retail Distribution by developing sophisticated analytical frameworks and tools and performing holistic market analysis to inform recommendations for the bank’s physical presence, staffing, hours and product placement.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Use geo-spatial analysis, data analytics and financial modelling to create micro and macro level network strategies by:

  • Identifying top performing markets where we want to over-invest, while optimizing the network in low priority markets through physical branch recommendations, staffing and hours
  • Leveraging market opportunity and customer data to provide primary and secondary product recommendations based on geographical concentrations
  • Determining the ideal staffing number and role-types at the branch based on key characteristics (e.g. investment vs. lending)
  • Performing financial analysis on market strategy recommendations to ensure we achieve a desirable payback and ROI – this includes scenario analysis at the branch, district, regional and national level
  • Partnering with regional leadership and other stakeholders to support execution of the recommended changes to Physical Distribution network including Real Estate, Optimization and Finance
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment

  • Advanced GIS and data analytical skills
  • Experience developing financial models and supporting business cases and/or financial education and relevant courses, e.g., CPA, CFA, MBA
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to bridge technical content and business objectives among a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Excel with experience in developing sophisticated tools for wider audience
  • Significant experience in network planning/distribution strategy or analytics/finance

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically in Canada to perform market reviews/branch visits
