MNP in Canada seeks a Manager for our Public Companies team. You will lead client-facing engagement teams to deliver audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls and financial transactions.

As a trusted advisor, you’ll build lasting client relationships, provide tailored financial insights, manage engagement planning and finances, and mentor staff. Travel flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required and eligible for membership in good standing.
• 4–6 years of public accounting experience with exposure to audits and tax engagements.
• Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and business processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead client-facing engagement teams on audits, tax engagements, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Deliver industry knowledge and high-quality audit reports and management presentations.
• Manage a portfolio of clients, nurturing relationships and growing accounts.
• Plan engagements, manage budgets and billing, and track project financials.
• Maintain quality control and address financial reporting issues.
• Develop new business opportunities and respond to proposals.
• Coach and develop team members and support career growth.
• Travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead client facing engagement teams to complete audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls and financial/accounting transactions
• Deliver industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high-quality deliverables
• Manage a portfolio of clients while understanding their business, key risks and ways to deliver added value; ensure clients’ needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow and develop
• Accountable for engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (i.e., budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, variance recognition)
• Maintain quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues relevant to the client’s business, financial entries and reports
• Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs
• Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills And Experience

• CPA designation
• 4 to 6 years of relevant public accounting experience
• Strong understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
• Experience working with clients in sectors such as junior mining, technology, manufacturing, and retail is considered an asset
• Proven people management, relationship building and leadership skills

The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 - $130,000.
