Job description
Overview

At KPMG, you’ll join a team of diverse and dedicated problem solvers, connected by a common cause: turning insight into opportunity for clients and communities around the world.

KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services professionals bring a combination of deep technical knowledge and industry experience to the challenges at hand, whether it be helping clients understand and plan for the accounting implications and wider business consequences of significant transactions or transitioning to new accounting standards or an entirely different accounting framework.

We're searching a Manager to join our Waterloo office.

In this role you will leverage your technical, financial reporting and project management skills in order to support clients through a variety of challenges including accounting change projects, complex transactions and financial analysis.

At times, business needs arise, and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal workday or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.

This position may require you to travel up to 20% of your time to a variety of locations.

What you will do
  • Leading and supporting accounting advisory projects, including financial reporting and business process design; fractional controllership, restructuring and transactions; analysis of complex accounting matters under multiple frameworks as listed below.
  • Assisting audit teams with auditing complex transactions in accordance with CAS.
  • Planning for and developing internal and external thought leadership for publications and events; facilitating and participating in client workshops and events.
  • Assisting clients with the evaluation of accounting requirements, reporting and disclosure standards, and preparing supporting analyses through drafting of reports and presentations.
What you bring to the role
  • Canadian CPA designation or international equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience, including 4 years in a public accounting setting.
  • In-depth working knowledge of IFRS, ASPE and USGAAP - PSAB and ASNPO an asset.
  • Experience with, or a strong interest in, audit processes including financial analysis and reporting, technical accounting report writing, and consulting on accounting advice.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to ‘uncomplicate the complicated’ by expressing ideas clearly, convincingly and concisely through oral presentations and written reports to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Effective project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands, without sacrificing attention to detail.
