An Ontario public service authority is seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker to support facilities at the library in Sarnia. The ideal candidate will perform maintenance tasks, assist during events, and ensure safety compliance. The Maintenance Worker primarily provides maintenance support at Lambton County Library branches and its administrative headquarters in cooperation with the property owner where applicable. The Maintenance Worker also supports event rentals at the Sarnia Library Theatre. The Maintenance Worker provides light maintenance and may participate in renovation/maintenance projects at any Cultural Services Division facility as required.
Perform minor repairs and general maintenance at Lambton County Library premises such as changing light bulbs, fixing door locks, painting furniture/equipment, repairing minor plumbing, etc.
Ensure that all consultants and contractors retained under contracts and agreements administered by the Department are in compliance with the County's Contractor H&S policy as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
Keep current and up to date with all requirements and provisions contained in the County's Health and Safety Policies. Participate in employee health and safety training activities as required.
Provide support to those renting the Sarnia Library Theatre and meeting rooms including the operation of sound lighting and audio/visual equipment.
Interact pleasantly and courteously with the public, community partners and staff promoting a harmonious workplace.
Incumbents must keep up‑to‑date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc., ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed.
Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the positions Physical Demands Analysis.
Will be required to travel to various facilities for purposes of employment.
May require the use of a personal vehicle for travel.
Secondary school diploma.
Post secondary school diploma or certificate in a field of study such as construction, electrical or facility maintenance.
6 months to 1 year experience in a maintenance role or equivalent.
Basic understanding and ability to assess HVAC systems and provide troubleshooting along with a basic understanding of building systems and operations including lighting, HVAC and construction.
Must have a solid understanding of new media lighting sound equipment and new technologies related to the operation of the Sarnia Library Theatre.
Must also have a good understanding of computer equipment and software packages to serve the clients of the theatre.
