Responsibilities
- Performing General Maintenance: handyman skills; plumbing repairs & installations; repair or install electrical switches and receptacles; repair and finish drywall.
- Conducting Minor Repairs: fix minor issues, ensuring appliances and equipment are correctly installed and operational.
- Maintaining Safety Systems: ensure the functionality of safety systems, such as fire alarms; perform monthly fire tests and have a good understanding of fire control systems.
- Changing Light Bulbs: replace light bulbs and address related electrical issues.
- Inspecting and Repairing Damages: identify and repair damages to building surfaces; experience with lock changes, dead bolts, and handles of commercial systems.
- Participating in Renovations: take part in renovations and projects to improve facilities.
- Reporting Issues: proactively report issues to the facilities or maintenance manager to ensure timely resolution.
- Adhering to Quality Standards: follow quality standards and health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment.
- Snow Removal: participate in snow removal with other maintenance workers as required.
- On Call Schedule: participate in an on-call schedule on a regular basis and respond to emergency calls within 30-40 minutes at the location of the call.
What You'll Bring To Our Team
- Grade 12 or equivalent and a few years\' experience in General Maintenance
- Demonstrated experience in plumbing repairs & installations, repair or install electrical switches and receptacles and repair and finish drywall
- CPR/First Aid certification and WHMIS training or willing to acquire
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment
- Creativity and flexibility in achieving desired outcomes
- Hospitable in dealings with clients/public / volunteers / staff, and other key stakeholders
- Available and responsive to the needs of others
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor
- Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Valid non-probationary driver\'s license
- Hands-On Experience: Previous maintenance experience is a plus
- Eager to Learn: Willingness to learn on the job and take on new challenges
- Positive Attitude: A can-do attitude and a passion for helping others
- Client-Focused: Enjoys servicing clients and contributing to a positive environment
- Technical Skills: Basic technical skills to perform maintenance tasks efficiently
- Commitment to Quality: Strong commitment to adhering to quality standards and health and safety regulations
