Overview

Responsibilities

• Performing General Maintenance: handyman skills; plumbing repairs & installations; repair or install electrical switches and receptacles; repair and finish drywall.
• Conducting Minor Repairs: fix minor issues, ensuring appliances and equipment are correctly installed and operational.
• Maintaining Safety Systems: ensure the functionality of safety systems, such as fire alarms; perform monthly fire tests and have a good understanding of fire control systems.
• Changing Light Bulbs: replace light bulbs and address related electrical issues.
• Inspecting and Repairing Damages: identify and repair damages to building surfaces; experience with lock changes, dead bolts, and handles of commercial systems.
• Participating in Renovations: take part in renovations and projects to improve facilities.
• Reporting Issues: proactively report issues to the facilities or maintenance manager to ensure timely resolution.
• Adhering to Quality Standards: follow quality standards and health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment.
• Snow Removal: participate in snow removal with other maintenance workers as required.
• On Call Schedule: participate in an on-call schedule on a regular basis and respond to emergency calls within 30-40 minutes at the location of the call.

What You'll Bring To Our Team

• Grade 12 or equivalent and a few years\' experience in General Maintenance
• Demonstrated experience in plumbing repairs & installations, repair or install electrical switches and receptacles and repair and finish drywall
• CPR/First Aid certification and WHMIS training or willing to acquire
• Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment
• Creativity and flexibility in achieving desired outcomes
• Hospitable in dealings with clients/public / volunteers / staff, and other key stakeholders
• Available and responsive to the needs of others
• Respectful and compassionate demeanor
• Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Valid non-probationary driver\'s license
• Hands-On Experience: Previous maintenance experience is a plus
• Eager to Learn: Willingness to learn on the job and take on new challenges
