Torch Remote Camps is looking for an experienced MaintenanceTechnician to join our team!
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible forkeeping our modular camp facilities, accommodations, and equipment safe,functional, and well maintained. This is a hands‑on role for someone who cantroubleshoot problems, perform general repairs, and take pride in maintaining acomfortable and safe camp environment.
PositionSummary
- Responsible for the maintenance, repair,troubleshooting, and general upkeep of modular camp buildings,accommodations, and related facilities.
- Ensure buildings, equipment, systems, andcommon areas are safe, functional, clean, and maintained to companystandards.
- Respond to maintenance requests andcomplete preventative and corrective maintenance in a timely andprofessional manner.
- Work independently and as part of a teamin a remote camp environment.
KeyResponsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of modularbuildings, rooms, common areas, mechanical spaces, and exterior areas.
- Complete preventative maintenanceaccording to established schedules and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair general buildingmaintenance issues.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, includingfaucets, toilets, sinks, drains, and water lines.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance,such as replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, and other minorcomponents within the scope of training and authorization.
- Repair and maintain doors, locks, hinges,cabinets, furniture, walls, ceilings, and flooring.
- Conduct minor carpentry and drywallrepairs as required.
- Inspect and maintain heating,ventilation, and air-conditioning systems and report deficiencies.
- Assist with the maintenance of boilers,water heaters, pumps, and other building systems where qualified.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenancecalls and urgent facility issues.
- Identify safety hazards, buildingdeficiencies, and equipment failures and report them to the appropriatesupervisor.
- Complete work orders, maintenance logs,inspection reports, and other required documentation.
- Maintain an inventory of maintenancesupplies, tools, parts, and equipment.
- Notify the supervisor when parts,materials, or specialized services are required.
- Maintain tools and equipment in goodworking condition.
- Assist with building moves, modularsetup, renovations, repairs, and demobilization activities when required.
- Support camp turnover activities,including room inspections, repairs, cleaning, and preparation forincoming occupants.
- Maintain exterior areas around modularbuildings, including basic grounds and seasonal maintenance as required.
- Follow all company policies, procedures,safe work practices, and client-specific requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protectiveequipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, andprofessional maintenance shop and work area.
- Communicate effectively with campmanagement, operations, housekeeping, kitchen, logistics, and otherdepartments.
- Provide professional and respectfulservice to camp residents, clients, and coworkers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
PreventativeMaintenance
- Conduct scheduled inspections of buildingsystems and equipment.
- Identify potential issues before theybecome major failures.
- Perform routine servicing and minorrepairs.
- Maintain accurate preventativemaintenance records.
- Follow established maintenance schedulesand manufacturer recommendations.
- Escalate major repairs or specializedmaintenance requirements to management.
Health,Safety & Environment
- Follow all Occupational Health and Safetyrequirements and company safety procedures.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safetymeetings, inspections, and training.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses,and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure maintenance work is completedusing appropriate lockout/tagout and safe work procedures whereapplicable.
- Maintain a safe environment for campresidents, coworkers, contractors, and visitors.
- Follow client and site-specific safetyrequirements at all times.
Qualifications& Experience
- Previous experience in buildingmaintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, modular buildings,camps, hotels, or a related trade.
- Experience working with plumbing,electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or general building systems is an asset.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshootingskills.
- Ability to read and understand basicmaintenance manuals, work orders, and procedures.
- Ability to use common hand and powertools safely.
- Ability to prioritize multiplemaintenance requests and respond to urgent issues.
- Strong communication and organizationalskills.
- Ability to work independently withminimal supervision.
- Previous remote camp or industrial-siteexperience is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence may be required.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
- Trade certification or relevant technicaltraining is an asset.
PhysicalRequirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pulltools, equipment, and maintenance materials.
- Ability to work from ladders and inconfined or restricted areas where required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel,crawl, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors invarying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demandingmaintenance tasks safely.
WorkEnvironment
- Remote modular camp environment.
- May require rotational work schedules andextended periods away from home.
- Work may involve exposure to noise, dust,weather conditions, mechanical equipment, and construction/maintenanceactivities.
- Must be comfortable working in afast-paced environment where priorities may change based on operationalrequirements.
- Must demonstrate flexibility andwillingness to assist with various camp and facility maintenance needs.

Experience:
- RemoteCamp Installation: 3 years (preferred)
