Job summary

A leading minerals resources company located in Ontario is seeking a permanent full-time Electrical Technician. You will ensure safe and effective electrical maintenance, focusing on the operational capacity of the plant. The ideal candidate has a valid electrical license, high voltage certificate, and at least three years of experience in a continuous operating plant environment. The role involves troubleshooting, monitoring performance, and conducting statutory inspections. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience as electrical tradesperson or Electrical/Instrumentation Technician.
  • Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of Variable Speed Drives.
  • Competent understanding of electrical schematics and permitting systems.

  • Perform repairs and installations of electronic and instrumentation equipment.
  • Conduct operational checks and diagnose performance issues.
  • Monitor trends for inventory control and statutory testing.

Job description

Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth

This permanent full time position is within our Process Plant. You will provide safe, effective and timely electrical maintenance to our equipment and ancillaries to optimise plant operational capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing repairs, installations and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation, all electronic and instrumentation equipment/systems
  • Performing operational checks, monitoring performance and related maintenance to identify and diagnose instrumentation electronic and electrical performance problems
  • Performing technical evaluations, fault finding and diagnosing problems and taking timeous corrective action
  • Decommissioning and disposal of equipment as appropriate
  • Performing on-the-job coaching as required
  • Monitoring trends to make recommendations for inventory control
  • Statutory testing and inspections
  • Carrying out tasks within Time, Budget and standard
Qualifications and Experience
  • Current WA 'A' class electrical workers licence
  • High voltage switching certificate
  • Certificate IV in instrumentation (desired)
  • Minimum 3 years experience as electrical tradesperson or Electrical / Instrumentation Technician in a continuous operating plant environment
  • Proven experience in PLC systems and control communication systems
  • Profibus installation and maintenance certification desirable
  • Proven experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Variable Speed Drives
  • Competent understanding of electrical schematics, isolation and permitting systems
  • Experience in computer based maintenance systems - SAP/Microsoft Office suite
