Job summary

SGS is seeking a Maintenance Associate to provide on-site maintenance support across facilities and laboratories. You will assist with work orders, perform preventative maintenance on equipment, and help with events and plant setups.

The role requires reading and following instructions, basic computer skills, and strong teamwork and communication. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 2+ years in a related field, with fork lift experience considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma; 2+ years in a related field are an asset.
  • Forklift license or forklift experience is an asset.
  • Must read, understand and follow work instructions safely and timely.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and basic computer software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to work with others and independently.
  • Good time management and attention to detail; able to work under pressure and possibly extended hours.
  • Complies with Health & Safety, Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with work orders and a variety of maintenance tasks on site.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and organize for events or moves.
  • Assist with pilot plant setup and tear-down; help skilled tradespeople.
  • Participate in meetings and training to build knowledge and skills.
  • Respond to emergencies to resolve safety concerns after hours when needed.
  • Transport tools, supplies and equipment around the site.
  • Set up for functions, large meetings and social events.
  • Prepare written materials such as activity logs and inspections.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (dust collectors, fans, vehicles, hoods).
  • Snow removal and general site upkeep; ensure compliance with policies.

Job Description

To provide maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assist in a wide variety of maintenance activities addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns. To ensure all aspects of SGS Facilities, laboratories and all other areas are maintained and operating fully.

  • Assist with work orders as received for various responsibilities throughout the site.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Arrange furniture and equipment for special events or office moves.
  • Assisting with set up and tear down of Pilot Plants.
  • Assist skilled tradesman.
  • Participate in meetings and training to gather information and skills to perform certain functions.
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Transport tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Set up with functions around site e.g. BBQ’s, large meetings and social functions.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g., activity logs, truck logbooks and inspections).
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties on various equipment e.g. (dust collectors, roof top fans, onsite vehicles, ventilation hoods, etc.
  • Snow removal
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • 2-years previous experience in a related field would be a strong asset.
  • Forklift license or previous experience with forklifts would be an asset.
  • Forklift license or previous 2-years’ experience.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
Additional Information

Compensation:$27 - $29 per hour

  • 80% coverage Health, Dental and Vision
  • Paid time off
