Job description
The Opportunity

We are looking for a dedicated, honest, fast paced, hardworking Maintenance Technician with the proven ability to work with a team of maintenance technicians / handymen, in overseeing a portfolio in Burlington. A suitable candidate would be someone with a customer service mindset and the ability to effectively manage the day-to-day maintenance requests in priority sequence to ensure the safety and functionality of the properties on an on-going basis.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :
  • Effectively manage a large portfolio of residential townhome properties.
  • Managing work orders to ensure they are completed in priority sequence and in a timely manner
  • Completing minor plumbing and minor electrical maintenance issues
  • Completing minor carpentry, painting and patchwork projects
  • Ensuring community grounds are clean, free of debris, and aesthetically pleasing
  • Shoveling snow, walkways, salting walkways, and ensuring landscape is well maintained.
  • Overseeing all contractors while on-site to ensure work is completely properly
  • Conduct daily inspections of property premise
  • Provide good customer service relations to all tenants
  • Maintain common area outdoors, etc. playground, pool, etc.

This position does have an on-call component with coverage for the Burlington property and a sister property located in Hamilton. On-call coverage is once in every 3 to 4 weeks. There is additional compensation for on-call coverage. A vehicle is mandatory so that you can travel between buildings during on-call weeks.

Experience
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Associate or Handyman
  • MUST have experience conducting maintenance repairs in the residential, retirement, institutional or commercial property management sector.
  • Experience working within a townhome complex a strong asset, but not mandatory
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems and mechanical systems, plumbing, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, able to think on your feet.
  • Experience dealing with people to provide superior customer service.
Qualifications
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Associate or Handyman
  • A technical trade certificate or background in construction a strong asset
Education

A technical trade certificate or any post-secondary education in construction and maintenance would be a strong asset.
