Day in the Life

What does a role as a Summer Student with Miller Maintenance look like? It is a role for someone who enjoys working outdoors in nature, likes to engage in physical activity and looks forward to the chance for every day to be a little different than the day before! Miller Maintenance provides highway maintenance for the Ministry of Transportation on provincial highways. We are responsible for everything along the highway from the fence line and keeping the motoring public safe! This is a very crucial role because if we don’t do what we do then traffic can’t go anywhere! As a summer student you are providing support for our full‑time crews and helping complete tasks ranging from traffic control for accidents on the highway to cutting grass and weed whipping behind guiderails as well as inspecting culverts and installing signs along the highway.

You may also be tasked with repairing guiderails which help keep motorists safe along the shoulder of the highway, and you could be helping patch potholes in the driving surface of the highway as well as picking litter to keep our highways clean and looking great!

With a commitment to flexibility, opportunities for professional development, and a shared passion for excellence, we are more than just colleagues – we are a community dedicated to Building Greatness together.

We succeed because we respect our people and invest in their development, safety and well‑being. Miller is an equal‑opportunity employer. We believe that diversity and inclusion are key attributes to building greatness. Miller’s core values of Integrity and Community welcome everyone at work and in the community, and our value of Accountability means that we own our actions, our decisions and our results. As a Miller employee, this will ultimately be your commitment to our inclusive culture.

We will contact candidates selected for an interview. Accommodation for applications with disabilities will be made during the recruitment process when requested.
