Job description
Overview

Temporary position ending on or before December 19, 2025, with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Tech Centre Supervisor, this position provides support to all programs at Patricia Campus. The incumbent acts as an assistant in the labs and to the maintenance supervisor to maintain and repair equipment, support the students and instructors, and assist in manufacturing or fixing teaching aids.

Responsibilities
  • Material handling and distribution, stocking and replenishing inventory
  • Maintaining security of shop/lab and supplies
  • Fabricating specialized items that may involve machining, welding, electrical, and plumbing
  • Operating and monitoring mechanical equipment used for preparing materials for shops and labs, such as welding equipment and forklift operation
  • Bringing in, setting up and removing various teaching aids for different programs
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work; able to climb stairs frequently
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work; able to lift 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 lbs with proper equipment
  • Ability to operate a forklift and obtain relevant forklift training if not already certified
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite would be an asset
Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade twelve; related trades certificate is a strong asset
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Experience in plumbing, welding, sheet metal, machining, electrical service trades would be an asset
  • Experience with operation and repair of sheet metal and welding equipment would be a strong asset
  • Equivalencies may be considered
  • Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have credentials evaluated by World Education Services or IQAS
Remuneration

Remuneration: $49,886.20 - $60,364.46 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Classification – Maintenance Service Worker II
