Job summary

North American Construction Group (NACG) is seeking a Maintenance Planner to track equipment, schedule weekly maintenance, and ensure compliance with the planned program. The role operates at the Kearl site with a 14 days on / 14 off, 12-hour shifts, and camp accommodations for rotating crews.

You will manage maintenance records, work orders, and regulatory documentation while supporting resource planning and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience relating to maintenance.
• Industrial construction and/or mining experience preferred.
• Mechanical related secondary education (Diploma or Degree)
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an accurate equipment list on site and keep the equipment database current.
• Create and manage work orders; maintain backlog and ensure standards.
• Oversee oil sampling program and follow-up actions.
• Update component records and track history; identify warranty opportunities.
• Develop and communicate the weekly maintenance schedule with resources.
• Prepare job plans and organize resources for efficient execution.
• Provide administrative support including reports and data entry.
• Maintain a safe work environment and guide junior planners.

Shift: 14 days on and 14 off. 12 hour shifts.

Responsibilities

What You’ll be doing

Maintaining accurate list of equipment on site

• Keeps equipment database in JDE current
• Track daily equipment hour meter readings
• Updates Maintenance records with current Service and PM status
• Ensures regulatory documentation is current

Work Order Management

• Creates work orders as required
• Manages Work order backlog
• Ensures open work orders meet required standard, and status is kept up to date

Oil Sampling Program

• Prepares samples for analysis and reviews results and generates follow-up actions as required
• Review and apply on board equipment monitoring data to identifying

Component Tracking

• Updates component records; maintains accurate component history
• Updates component failure tracking system
• Identifies warranty opportunities and prepares background information for warranty claims.

Weekly Maintenance Schedule

• Responsible for developing and communicating the Weekly Maintenance plan in conjunction with maintenance supervision.
• Ensure resources are in place to perform the planned work (Parts, Labour, shop space etc.)
• Monitors compliance to plan, and reconciles plan vs actual
• Monitors progress of actual planned work through shop and field visits
• Generates weekly and monthly plan compliance statistics

Job Planning

• Prepares job plans for planned work
• Organizes resources in advance to ensure efficient execution of planned work
• Orders parts for planned and found work as required

Administrative Support

• Generate weekly and monthly reports as required
• Support clerical staff in data entry and work order administration

General

• Complete adhoc reports and projects as requested
• Maintain a safe work environment in regards to all maintenance work
• Provide direction to junior planners and aide in personal development

• Capable of both strategic and tactical thinking with a drive to meet quality, cost and schedule targets
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Detailed working knowledge of planning tools (JD Edwards, MS Office Package, etc)

• Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
