Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate highway vehicles and equipment including snow plow trucks, dump trucks, and loaders.
  • Perform general maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct manual labour for maintenance and repair of highway assets.
  • Perform planned and emergency traffic control and assist in accident response.
  • Prepare daily work records of activities and equipment performance.
  • Assist Mechanics in routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and yard maintenance.
  • Assist in annual inspections for highway asset management.
  • Work scheduled rotating shifts during Winter Operations.
  • Be on rotating on-call schedule during Summer Operations.
  • Be flexible to work at different locations along the Facility.

Maintenance Operator Full Time

This position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment and performing manual labour required to maintain the highway and right-of-way assets to ensure conformance of the designated section of the highway with required OMR standards and contractual requirements.

This role will be based in Dow Settlement, NB.

Your role within the team
  • Operate highway vehicles, equipment's and tools including but not limited to snow plow trucks, dump body trucks, loaders, Skid Steer loaders, tractors, light vehicles, etc required to maintain and repair the highway surfaces and other assets in a safe condition according to OMR standards and contractual requirements.
  • Perform general maintenance activities of vehicles and equipment's, such as pre-trip inspections activities, greasing and washing.
  • Perform general manual labour required to maintain and repair the highway and related corridor assets (including, but not limited to, traffic control, grass cutting, drainage facilities, signs, asphalt and concrete patching and other assets, spring debris clean-up, litter removal, etc).
  • Perform planned and emergency traffic control signing and services, and assist in accident response and site clean-up, in compliance with the Work Area Traffic Control Manual and safety standards.
  • Prepare daily work records of activities, including equipment operating times and vehicle performance.
  • Assist the Mechanics in routine vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs, as needed.
  • Assist in yard maintenance and general good house-keeping clean-up practices.
  • Assist with the annual detailed inspections for the highway asset management system.
  • Required to work scheduled rotating shifts during Winter Operations.
  • Required to be on rotating on-call schedule during Summer Operations.
  • Flexible to work at different locations along the Facility (from Long's Creek to Quebec Border).
