Job summary

Park Place Seniors Living in Coquitlam, BC is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead the site’s facilities, safety, and quality of life for residents. You will oversee preventative maintenance, coordinate contractors, manage budgets, and support fire safety and risk programs.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role combines leadership with hands-on maintenance, budgeting, and compliance, offering a meaningful opportunity to improve living environments for seniors.

Qualifications

  • Several years of recent, related maintenance experience.
  • Facility-management experience preferred.
  • Journeyperson certificate in a building-maintenance trade is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including electrical, structural, and roofing.
  • Experience coordinating contractors.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the site’s preventative maintenance program.
  • Plan and complete building, equipment, and grounds maintenance.
  • Prioritize emergency repairs, major projects, and routine work.
  • Diagnose and coordinate repairs with qualified contractors.
  • Obtain quotations and ensure contractor work meets specifications.
  • Manage budgets for facility repairs, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Prepare capital budget submissions for facility improvements and renovations.
  • Maintain documentation to support inspections and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate fire drills and provide fire-safety training to staff.
  • Inspect rooms and address maintenance or safety concerns before move-ins.
  • Participate in occupational health and safety, QA, and continuous improvement.
  • Respond to emergency building and maintenance issues.
  • Treat residents with dignity, care and respect in every interaction.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the building, physical plant, grounds, and equipment remain safe, functional, and well maintained. You will lead preventative maintenance activities, prioritize repairs and projects, oversee maintenance employees and contractors, manage maintenance and capital budgets, and support fire safety, workplace safety, infection prevention, risk management, and quality improvement programs.

As a member of the site leadership team, you will also contribute to operational, staffing, budget, and policy decisions while helping foster a strong culture of safety and respect.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and maintain the site’s preventative maintenance program
  • Plan and completed building, equipment, and grounds maintenance
  • Prioritize emergency repairs, major projects, routine work, and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose and complete repairs when appropriate and coordinate qualified contractors when required
  • Obtain quotations and oversee contractors to ensure work meets specifications
  • Manage budgets for facility repairs, maintenance, and capital projects
  • Prepare capital budget submissions for facility improvements and renovations
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate fire drills and provide fire-safety education to employees
  • Inspect rooms and address maintenance or safety concerns before resident move‑ins
  • Participate in occupational health and safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Respond to emergency building and maintenance issues
  • Treat residents with dignity, care, and respect in every interaction
What You Bring
  • Several years of recent, related maintenance experience
  • Previous facility‑management experience is preferred
  • Journeyperson certificate in an appropriate building-maintenance trade is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, structural, and roofing systems
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and health and safety requirements
  • Experience coordinating contractors
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Effective computer skills
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector criminal background check
