Transit Maintenance Manager (Permanent, Full-Time)

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. The West Vancouver Transit is currently seeking a permanent full-time Transit Maintenance Manager reporting to the Transit Senior Manager. This position will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring all Transit vehicles are maintained to a high standard, supporting safe, reliable, and comfortable service for the public.
  • Safeguarding the integrity of Transit buildings, infrastructure, and operational systems.
  • Planning and managing the operations of the Transit garage, including the development and evaluation of preventative maintenance and repair programs for the bus fleet and support vehicles, including Community Buses.
  • Directing the activities of the purchasing department and the Environmental Management System.
  • Overseeing parts inventory and procurement processes to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Leading the planning, execution, and completion of capital projects.
  • Managing daily budget operations and contributing to annual budget planning and submission.
  • Providing leadership and direction to staff through effective planning, assignment, and supervision of work.
  • Overseeing staff performance through recruitment, training, development, and motivation.
  • Collaborating with other District departments, external agencies, and participating in relevant committees.
  • Representing the Department in employee and labour relations matters.
  • Performing other duties and leading special projects as assigned.
Successful candidate will possess
Completion of Grade 12 plus post-secondary Business Administration diploma and substantial supervisory experience in the Transit industry, or an equivalent combination of education and Transit experience. Trade Qualification or Apprenticeship in Commercial Transport. Strong knowledge and understanding of the concepts, practices, and techniques in all areas of Fleet Maintenance. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia. BC Class 3 Driver’s License with Airbrake Endorsement would be considered an asset. Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract, a police information check, and copies of relevant credentials.
