This role is ideal for someone who not only understands building systems and preventative maintenance, but also knows how to work closely with operations to keep everything running smoothly.

We’re looking for a leader who can jump in when needed, guide a team, handle daily maintenance needs, and support long-term planning — all while ensuring the safety, functionality, and guest experience across the entire property.

Role Purpose

The Maintenance Manager provides leadership and strategic oversight for all facilities and maintenance operations across the Red Deer Resort & Casino. This includes developing preventative maintenance programs, capital and operating budgets, and ensuring all physical assets (hotel, casino, conference centre, food & beverage, and supporting infrastructure) are maintained in excellent condition. The Maintenance Manager ensures compliance with safety standards, oversees contractors and vendors, and creates a positive, high-performance culture within the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance plans across all facilities.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate maintenance staff; ensure staffing levels meet operational needs.
  • Oversee scheduling of routine inspections, testing, and repairs for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, laundry, pool, and life safety systems.
  • Prioritize and track work orders through the CMMS (MaintainX); ensure timely completion and reporting.
  • Manage major projects and renovations, including contractor selection, compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Act as Safety Officer and active member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Stay current with regulatory requirements, building codes, and workplace safety legislation.
  • Maintain strong communication with hotel, casino, and F&B leaders; respond to guest and operational needs.
  • Participate in executive and department head meetings; provide updates on facility status, risks, and upcoming projects.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman trade certification (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related field) preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive facility/maintenance leadership, ideally in hospitality, gaming, or multi-site operations.
  • Strong budgeting, planning, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with proven team management experience.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
  • CPR/First Aid and Pool Operator certifications considered assets.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean record preferred.
Work Environment
  • Combination of office and hands-on environment; frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to climb ladders, crawl into confined spaces, and work in hot/cold environments.
  • Must be available for on-call shifts, evenings, graveyard, weekends, and holidays as required.
Hours of Work
  • The hours of work for this position will vary depending on operational requirements but will include day, evening, and late night, as well as weekends and holidays, including a regular on-call shift.
