Maintenance IT Technician – Dexterra Group

Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance IT Technician is responsible for on-site security and IT systems at Stanton Territorial Hospital with regard to facility maintenance and repair, on-site safety, equipment efficiency, statutory compliance on security IT systems, performance, and reporting on deficiencies and long-term improvement projects. The position oversees the performance and activities of all Security IT sub-contractors on site and provides support for Plant Services with regards to CMMS tasks related to Security IT systems.

Specific Accountabilities

Join our Healthcare Support Services team. You will work directly with department heads and the Facility General Manager to provide direction for IT and health and safety issues, take responsibility for overall performance including financial and compliance issues, security daily actions and events, operational efficiencies, and reporting on performance data and daily reports. You will deliver operational improvement initiatives and manage all aspects of projects initiated for the facility, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing phases, budgets and stakeholder communication. You will liaise with department employees on performance and manage the operational and financial aspects of health and safety and IT deliverables. Ensure that aspects of the Project Agreement are in compliance with requirements, best practices, company policies and procedures, as well as legislative and labor requirements. Assist in data collection and reporting of measurable deliverables. The facilities maintenance manager supports system performance within the parameters set in the performance contract and assists in data collection and reporting.

Your work will include, but is not limited to:

  • Participate in all scheduled and ad-hoc meetings related to hospital operations
  • Walk-through facility and provide IT reports on noted issues
  • Write comprehensive month-end reports including relevant statistics
  • Provide recommendations for optimizing security and security IT operations
  • Gather, catalog and assemble O&M manuals and training documentation for IT events
  • Create retraining plans and implement them for Maintenance staff
  • Represent the department with a positive and professional attitude
  • Adhere to occupational health and safety acts and other legislative enactments
  • Meet with sales representatives to explore expanding IT delivery services to the facility and local community
  • Maintain relationships with external and internal project stakeholders through effective communication
  • Develop new or updated scopes of work and safety best practices
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of yearly IT budget
  • Establish effective control and inspection measures for security IT systems
  • Conduct quality audits for security hazards
  • Conduct Health and Safety audits throughout the facility
  • Handle rollout and communication for IT project change orders or minor works, including submitting quotes and invoicing
  • Identify deliverable security risk trends and ensure mitigating actions are in place
  • Work with department heads to develop updated scopes of work, including Annual Protocols, Training & Development programs, and SOPs within Project Agreement timelines
  • Document lifecycle activities including invoicing back to Project Co and tracking work performed in advance of Lifecycle for timely invoicing
  • Identify and develop business continuity strategies with mitigating actions
  • Manage and support invoicing, inventory & accounting practices at the facility
  • Monthly Account Performance Reporting including Monthly and Bi-Yearly Performance Accounting Reports and Performance Monitoring Reports
  • Facilitate or participate in meetings related to operational improvements initiatives
  • Assist the Facility General Manager with sourcing and bid submission for potential new business within the Northwest Territories
  • Perform quarterly documentation audits for departments and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with the Project Agreement
  • Conduct yearly risk evaluations and audits
Strategic Vision
  • Review current equipment and systems and provide oversight to the Assistant General Manager and Facility General Manager on improvements to security IT system operations through upgrades and lifecycle changeovers
  • Work with the Plant Service Chief Engineer to deliver operational stability of the security IT systems
  • Collaborate with the Performance Manager on the 5-year maintenance and lifecycle plans and redraft yearly for submission under the Partnership Agreement
Leadership
  • Provide daily oversight of all security IT systems at the facility
Business Development
  • With yearly protocol submission, add an appendix dedicated to new projects, facility improvements, risk analysis and safety opportunities
  • Work to automate reporting so it is supplied to NTHSSA directly
Operational Efficiency
  • Oversee all property IT contractors and ensure OHS compliance
  • Use Lenel and Milestone trending results to improve compliance and utility usage
  • Review PPM logs for early intervention on facility IT systems
  • Review CMMS trending for early intervention on facility and/or security issues
  • Ensure yearly training requirements and/or certifications for Security Services or Maintenance as required
  • Create work-around plans for unexpected IT events to mitigate loss of facility operations or service deliveries

Working Conditions
  • Work will be conducted on-site at Dexterra offices and the facility; on-call or 24/7/365 availability is required; flexible schedule for emergency call-outs
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in IT management
  • 5+ years in hospital security
  • Certification in IT services
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT
  • 4+ years at department head level with budgeting and financial reporting
  • 4+ years in security or policing at department head level
  • 4+ years of performance or operational IT management with project tracking
  • 2+ years working with business stakeholders in a cross-functional environment
  • 1+ years gathering requirements from clients and documenting
  • 1+ years experience with full product lifecycle and development methodologies
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint; experience presenting to stakeholders
  • Drive for results and accountability

  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and drive change
  • Decisiveness in resolving problems
  • PMP certification is an asset
