Job summary

Lactalis Canada is seeking a Maintenance Intern in Manitoba to support maintenance activities in a manufacturing plant under supervision, contributing to process improvements and equipment reliability.

You will document projects, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and participate in installing and testing equipment; enrolled in an engineering program with CAD skills and a drive to learn is required. The program offers exposure to SAP and preventive maintenance practices.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering program (e.g., industrial, mechanical, chemical, or food engineering)
  • Enjoys solving problems and making logical decisions
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context
  • Proficiency in CAD software and technical engineering tools
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Motivated to learn and open to meeting new challenges
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively

Responsibilities

  • Identify gaps to improve the operation of equipment.
  • Work closely with leadership team, multi functional teams or members of other departments to help in optimizing processing procedures
  • Responsible to document project, procedures or one point lessons generated from the project
  • Communicate and train processes or procedures to hourly or salary personnel as required to sustain new implementations or improvements
  • Track progress adequately of the required actions and provide updates and feedback to manager.
  • Creating PM plans, updating BOM’s in SAP in order to optimize preventative maintenance program in a critical line or equipment
  • Work with SAP to optimize or implement new work management systems such as the notification system.
  • Work with maintenance team to troubleshoot problems and perform preventive maintenance
  • Assisting on general maintenance projects
  • Update engineering drawings and labels
  • Participate in the installation of new equipment

Job Purpose

Compensation

As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is:$26 – $28.

Please note: Along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, your actual base salary will be fair, competitive, and be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
