Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for a part-time, 15 hours/week role at a long-term care home in Scarborough, ON. Starting pay is $21.00/hour and the supervisor will report to the Environmental Services Manager.

The ideal candidate will have two+ years of supervisory experience in long-term care or similar settings, with mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and write English. WHMIS knowledge and safety practices are required.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience within long-term care or similar role is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and write English.
  • WHMIS knowledge and OH&S understanding are required/supported.
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting is preferred.
  • A valid vulnerable sector check within 6 months of start date is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program and the Demand Maintenance Program.
  • Regularly perform tasks described in the programs and check maintenance logs.
  • Complete repairs including painting, wall repair, leaks, install fixtures and doors, replace light fixtures, install blinds.
  • Check the operation of mechanical equipment and inspect Life Safety equipment.
  • Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment and complete regular maintenance reports.
  • Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors and perform other duties as required.

Vacancy: Part-time, permanent, 15hrs/week

Southbridge, the owner and operator of several long-term care homes and retirement communities across Southwestern Ontario, is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join their long-term care home in Scarborough, ON.

Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, this role is responsible for performing general routine maintenance, and servicing operations throughout the home, keeping our home environment safe for residents and staff alike!

Responsibilities:
  • Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the Demand Maintenance Program
  • Regularly perform the various tasks described in the programs.
  • Regularly checking completed maintenance logs in each department/home area of the home.
  • Complete repairs as necessary including not limited to: Painting, wall repair, small leak, install (toilet, sink, tiling, doors, replace light fixtures, install blinds)
  • Check the operation of the mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect Life Safety equipment and systems.
  • Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment.
  • Complete regular maintenance reports.
  • Complete pre-start up assessments on a new equipment as applicable.
  • Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors; andperform other duties as required.
  • Must be available for call ins on short notice.
  • Relieve and support Manager of department when needed.
  • Perform everything pertaining to maintenance including heavy duty related work.
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following:
  • High School Diplomaand a college level trade certificate is an asset.
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience within long-term care or similar role would be considered an asset.
  • Experience managing employees in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to read and write the English language.
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting preferred.
  • Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable about WHMIS, OH & S.
  • A returned vulnerable sector check within 6months of start date is required.
