Maintenance Electrician

Title: Maintenance Electrician (23)
Location: Facilities Unit, Finance & Operations Division, OPSEU/SEFPO Head Office, 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto, ON, M3B 3P8
Reporting to: Supervisor, Facilities Unit
Search Type: Open to all OPSEU/SEFPO members and the community (First consideration to be given to OPSEU/SEFPO members)
Salary: $1,653.00 to $1,860.00 per week (Service Staff)
Working Conditions: As provided in the OPSSU/OPSEU/SEFPO Collective Agreement

Principal Duties:

Maintains and repairs all electrical equipment and systems.

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, including emergency lighting systems, generators, automatic door operators, building system automation
  • Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes
  • Runs electrical conduits and wires
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment and systems
  • Maintains all inventory/purchasing contract requirements and keeps records
  • Follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Valid 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician Licence
  • 2 year Community College diploma (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and four years of related work experience
  • Requires formal/informal updating on maintenance, repair and installation techniques for electrical equipment, systems and motors
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices and WHMIS procedures
  • Knowledge of standing building codes and regulations, as well as electrical codes
  • Knowledge of OPSEU/SEFPO organization, structure and policies
  • Understanding of and commitment to labour movement and social democratic philosophy
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Tact and Diplomacy skills
