Job summary

A regional air service provider based in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a team of AMEs and technicians. The role involves overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and training junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a valid AME license with at least 5 years of experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently. This position offers a competitive salary of CA$48.00 – CA$58.00 per hour, alongside benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Valid AME license required with a minimum of 5 years licensed experience.
  • Preference for M2 + DH8 endorsed.
  • Ability to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) & AVOP.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of AMEs and technicians and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Perform line and base maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with Transport Canada standards and safety protocols.
  • Review and certify maintenance documentation and logbooks.

  • Train and mentor junior engineers in maintenance practices.

Overview

Maintenance Crew Chief | North Cariboo Air

Compensation: CA$48.00 – CA$58.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Oversee a team of AMEs and technicians, providing technical guidance, assigning daily tasks, and ensuring efficient workflow to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintenance Execution: Direct and perform line and base maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in accordance with approved manuals.
  • Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work meets Transport Canada standards and company SMS (Safety Management System) protocols; maintain a “safety-first” culture on the floor.
  • Technical Documentation: Review and certify maintenance release; ensure all logbooks, tasks, work packages are accurately completed and signed off.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate with the stores department for parts procurement and manage specialized tooling to prevent downtime.
  • Mentorship: Train and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and ensuring standardized maintenance practices across the crew.
  • Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between the hangar floor and Maintenance Control of Project Management regarding aircraft status and delays.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Valid AME license required, minimum 5 years of licensed experience
  • Preference to M2 + DH8 endorsed
  • Transport Canada approved Aircraft Maintenance Technology Program
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude & excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Often on feet for extended periods of time
  • Occasional lifting of over 50lbs
  • Must be able to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) & AVOP
  • Experience with RAAS, as asset
