Job summary

Veolia in Alberta is seeking a Maintenance Cleaner to ensure Material Recycling Facility equipment is clean and ready for operation. You will clean conveyors, rollers, motors, and related machinery and perform basic mechanical checks.

The role requires safety awareness, ability to work 4 on 4 off night shifts (6 pm–6 am), input SAP to create work orders, and collaborate with maintenance technicians. Prior industrial experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 years experience.

Job Description

The maintenance clearer position is to ensure Material Recycling Facilityequipment is clean and ready for operation for the following operating day. Thekey duties include cleaning debris off scrapers, idlers, rollers, motors,conveyors, bellypans, exhaust fans, diverters, etc. The employee must also havesome mechanical aptitude in order to determine if a piece of equipment requiresrepair.

This position operates within a COR certified plant environment and is requiredto comply with all regulatory requirements including the Client’s operatingapproval with Alberta Environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and promotes the Company’s, the Division’s, the Plant’s, and theDepartment’s mission statement, values, and strategic goals.
• Proactively promotes through example a safe work ethic, attitude, andworkplace. Complies with all safety policies, standards, and procedures toachieve a safe work environment and safety for all staff and visitors aswell as the Company’s, Client’s and Regulatory Agencies safe work objectives andrequirements.
• Maintains effective working relationships and communications with peers,management, and other Company departments and staff. Effectively resolves anyconflicts in a timely and respectful manner to achieve positive and healthyworking relationships and workplace environment.
• Operates company owned, leased, or rented vehicles and/or equipment . Required to perform, rotate through, or temporarily relieve in SafetySensitive positions.
• Remove or assist in removing equipment guards, perform lock outs and prepareequipment for maintenance technicians to work on.
• Clean plant machinery, equipment including conveyors and all other equipmentthroughout the facility.
• Be able to work some O/T as required to maintain facility production
• Input SAPto create new WOs whether Mechanical or electrical.
• Promotes a quality-first work ethic and attitude to provide a product that ismanufactured of the highest standard achievable.

• Disagreeable conditions normally associated with job (e.g. physical hazards,rotating shifts, shop conditions, excessive travel as an integral part of theduties performed, etc.) It is assumed that all reasonable and legalOccupational Health & Safety practices are in place and are adhered to. Inaddition, PPE is to be worn as per company standards and procedures.
  • High volume workload requiring both sound technical knowledge and abilityto provide exceptional customer service.
  • Continuous trips into the production plant and laboratory; may be exposedto limited noise, fumes, odours, and chemicals.

Hours of Work

Permanent position: General hours of work for the Maintenance Cleaner will be 4 on 4 off rotating 12 hour night shifts, 6 pm to 6 am with a 30-minute lunch break. Position is based on a average 44-hour work week.
