Job summary

Cogir Senior Living's Port Perry Villa in Port Perry, Ontario, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant. You will perform routine repairs on electrical, plumbing, heating and carpentry tasks, while ensuring a safe, clean environment for residents.

You will inspect premises regularly, follow safety rules, and support housekeeping duties as needed. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work independently in a compassionate seniors' living setting.

Qualifications

• Must follow oral and written English instructions.
• Ability to self-regulate and work independently.
• Able to perform physical duties including the movement of heavy objects.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering and painting.
• Willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check within six months.

Responsibilities

• Executes routine repairs and carries out minor maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment and building.
• Paints, performs minor carpentry and maintains exterior grounds.
• Regularly inspects the premises from a maintenance and safety standpoint and files reports with supervisor.
• Adheres to facility policies, safety rules and safe working practices.
• Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties as needed while in handyman role.
