Village Canadien Cooperative is seeking full-time dedicated Maintenance Assistants to support the upkeep and care of its residential properties. This hands‑on role is ideal for individuals who enjoy both indoor and outdoor work – from general repairs and maintenance to snow removal and landscaping – while contributing to a safe and welcoming living environment for residents.

One position will be based at Village Canadien Cooperative, and one position will be based at Westboine Park Housing Cooperative.

Role Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Assistants support the upkeep, repair, and appearance of all Village Canadien properties. This role is responsible for performing preventative, routine, and as‑needed maintenance across buildings, property, and grounds. The work involves a mix of indoor and outdoor tasks, including plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, carpentry, landscaping, and snow removal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete maintenance and repair tasks in response to submitted work orders.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and routine maintenance for all properties.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Workplace Health & Safety standards.
  • Pick up parts and supplies as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Operate equipment such as the skid steer tractor for snow removal.
  • Assist and learn from the Maintenance Supervisor in more complex maintenance tasks.
  • Perform general repairs such as plumbing, light electrical, painting, and carpentry.
  • Travel between property locations as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience with general property maintenance tasks.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety standards.
  • Training or education in a trade is an asset.
  • Experience operating a skid steer or similar equipment is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s licence required.
