Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Maintenance Aide to perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance in a care-focused environment in Winnipeg, MB. You will handle electrical, plumbing, heating and other building systems to ensure resident comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include painting, carpentry, grounds upkeep, and regular safety inspections. You will work under the General Manager and adhere to all safety policies while supporting residents and the team.

Qualifications

• Must follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to self regulate and work independently.
• Capable of performing physical duties including movement of heavy objects.
• Familiar with and able to carry out minor repairs to facility and equipment.
• Knowledge and training in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering and painting.
• Able to maintain and manage a budget with detailed tracking of work and costs.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety with willingness to obtain Vulnerable Sector Check or provide one.

Responsibilities

• Executes routine repairs and minor maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment and building.
• Paints, performs minor carpentry and maintains exterior grounds.
• Inspects the premises regularly from a maintenance and safety standpoint and files required reports with supervisor.
• Adheres to facility policies and safety rules and practices.
• Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties as required while supporting residents.
• Works in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
• Upholds the organization’s values relating to ethics, morality and integrity.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Aide executes routine repairs and carries out minor maintenance operations with a focus on providing superior customer service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Executes routine repairs and carries out minor maintenance operations to electrical, mechanical plumbing equipment and building;
• Paints, performs minor carpentry and maintains exterior grounds except those services performed under service contract;
• At regular intervals, inspects the entire premises from a maintenance and safety standpoint and files required reports with supervisor;
• Adheres to established facility policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices;
• An employee, while assigned handyman responsibilities, will continue to fulfil all housekeeping and maintenance duties as required;
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
• Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity;
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of Health and Safety - Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
