Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Maintenance Aide is responsible for the general maintenance of YOU service sites—including 333 Richmond, Cornerstone, the YOU Youth Shelter, Joan’s Place, apartment rentals, and new addition buildings—in a responsive and professional manner. You will be tasked with unit rentals and the general upkeep of the facilities, responding to tenant inquiries and emergencies, conducting inspections to verify the safety and condition of all aspects of the buildings, supervising and coordinating maintenance service and repairs, and performing any other duties assigned as necessary. Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to support YOU teams and customers.
  • Coordinate and manage vendors to successfully complete maintenance and improvements across YOU sites.
  • Ensure prompt and respectful responses are provided to requests and issues from tenants and employees.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving urgent maintenance issues to ensure resident safety and comfort.
  • Communicate effectively with residents about maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Complete vacant suite turnover and shelter room turnover.
  • Assist with general cleaning, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping surfaces, disposing garbage, and ensuring overall cleaning of the interior and exterior of YOU service locations.
  • Complete drywall repair, sanding, painting, and trim.
  • Manage plumbing and HVAC issues—including toilets and faucet repair, fix leaks, and assess HVAC problems.
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and property systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance issues and report findings to the Facilities Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining a schedule for regular maintenance activities.
  • Complete facility repairs to damaged doors, knobs, and locks.
  • Ensure all equipment dedicated to the physical security of tenants, participants and employees is functioning properly (closed‑circuit televisions, alarms, sensor‑tag systems, locks, etc).
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Manage landscaping and snow removal.
  • Other facility maintenance tasks as required.
  • Participate in health and safety training, including WHMIS, and apply this knowledge in the workplace.
  • Report any violations of the Health and Safety Act or related regulations.
  • Ensure all workplace incidents are reported in a timely manner in accordance with legislation and YOU policies.
  • Rotational on‑call every two to three weeks.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED with a minimum of two years of experience in facility/property management.
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience providing maintenance support within residential communities.
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends as required.
  • Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meeting targets and deadlines.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work with contractors from all disciplines associated with building operations.
  • Licensed in a related trade considered an asset.
Hours of Work
  • 35 hours per week, flexible schedule depending on the needs of YOU.
  • Extended hours and weekend work may be required from time to time.
Salary

CA$21.17–CA$23.34 per hour.
