Our story starts in 1911, manufacturing cables to support the distribution of power generated from Niagara Falls, Nexans has proudly contributed to Canada's growth. We have been involved in many of Canada's most ambitious projects; from dams, bridges, energy transmission and distribution to railroads and transportation. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and our products are made at facilities located in Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

The Weyburn Plant originally opened in an airplane hangar at the Weyburn Airport in 1956, and has been in the City of Weyburn since 1971. In Weyburn, we manufacture both overhead and underground low and medium voltage cable. The Process Operator position reports directly to the shift supervisors.

GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION

The Maintenance team is integral in the plant to maintain production equipment through preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems, with experience in maintaining and troubleshooting complex machinery in a manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on position that requires a proactive approach to equipment reliability and plant efficiency.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical components of production equipment.
  • Install equipment, machines, to meet specifications.
  • Strong knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics and automated equipment.
  • Determine causes of failure and determine best repair method.
  • Ensure machines are operating efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and adjust machinery to maintain optimal production quality.
  • Assemble and install equipment.
  • Follow safe work practices to repair, install, upgrade, commission, trouble‑shoot, and maintain production equipment in a manufacturing setting.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and modify equipment.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns and equipment overhauls as required.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and machine performance.
  • Perform other transitional duties as necessary.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?
  • 3 years related work experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance role, preferably in a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Have a strong commitment to safe work practices.
  • Show attention to detail, be proactive to diagnose mechanical issues, critical thinker.
  • Ability to prioritize, and work independently.
  • Have a positive attitude, professional, and can work well both in teams and independently.

  • Depending on open positions at time of hire, shifts are (subject to change in accordance to CBA):
