A leading financial institution seeks a Mainframe Application Specialist to join its CRM team in Toronto. You will leverage your expertise in Mainframe systems to deliver business solutions and provide guidance as a subject matter expert. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience with Mainframe utilities and a strong background in Agile methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence. We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Application Specialist to join our CRM cross-functional agile team within the Digital Operation Technology space. As a Mainframe Application Specialist, you will serve as a key contributor in delivering business requirements and maintenance solutions across our CRM applications portfolio. By leveraging your in-depth knowledge and expertise in business systems analysis, you will drive the planning, elicitation, analysis, documentation, estimation for new CRM business initiatives, ensuring alignment with organization objectives and business priorities. Additionally, you will assume a critical role as a Mainframe Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing expert guidance and support for CRM system maintenance and decommissioning activities to drive strategic value and operational excellence.
Collaborate with product owners to understand business needs and translate them into system requirements
Analyze and document detailed business and system solution requirements using Agile methodology
Support design, development, and testing activities by providing requirements clarifications and root-cause analysis
Act as the Mainframe SME, delivering specialized technical guidance and solutions to support system maintenance and legacy migration initiatives
Leverage organizational AI capabilities to increase productivity and contribute to process improvement activities
Must have:
Minimum of 5 years of experience with Mainframe utilities and platforms, including JCL, COBOL, DFSORT, BTEQ, MLOAD, and TSO/ISPF
Proven experience in requirements management and communication, including requirements walkthroughs, scope and change management, traceability, configuration management, backlog management, and prioritization
Experience with Agile project delivery and strong working expertise in JIRA, Confluence, and flow charting/wire frame tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with developers, architects, Quality Engineers, and business partners
Strong knowledge of data mapping, databases (DB2 and Teradata), and data formats (XML, JSON)
Understanding of REST API and Swagger
Deadline-driven and results-oriented, with the ability to meet high-quality standards while handling multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Nice to have:
Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Advanced education in Business Analysis.
Agile experience/ certification
Experience with OpenShift, Python and Java
Experience with IDz tool, ZEKE scheduling, CICS, Github and Github Actions
Familiarity with IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) and Mainframe build/compile and deploy processes
Recent experience within the financial industry
