Job summary

Overview

FET Variperm is class leading in service and supply, specializing in sand control engineering, completion and work-over tools and cased hole fishing services. Our name derives from Variable Permeability – the ability to change permeability to control results. Our customized sand control solutions allow us to respond quickly to the ever-changing variability of our customers’ vertical and horizontal well operations.

Responsibilities
  • The Machine Operator operates semi-automatic and CNC machinery to fabricate slotted liner and related components. They follow manufacturing drawings, procedures and order forms to complete their daily tasks.
  • Perform quality checks and ensure applicable documentation is filled out accurately as needed.
  • Identify and use tools and materials as per work orders; read and interpret precision measuring equipment.
  • Configure machinery to produce quality results as per procedures and quality requirements.
  • Unload shipments, weigh and receive goods when required.
  • Ensure tools and machinery are in good working order and maintained.
  • Undertake shop cleaning and regular preventative equipment maintenance.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to HSE and quality.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and participate in training and safety meetings as required.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 45 lbs.; lift items heavier than 45 lbs. with assistance, forklift and/or overhead hoist.
  • Active participation in FET’s Health, Safety and Environment program.
  • Other duties as required.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Operator forklift and crane training.
  • Able to meet deadlines while working in a safe manner.
  • Mechanically inclined; ability to use small hand tools and/or power tools.
  • Attention to detail; works well in a team environment.
  • Strong aptitude to understand drawings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English.
  • Grade 12 basic math skills.
Education
  • Grade 12 or GED – additional education past high school would be an asset.
Experience
  • Prior manufacturing experience in a similar environment preferred.
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane training or experience considered an asset.
