Job summary

MacLean Engineering is seeking a Machine Operator for our Barrie, Ontario facility. The role involves handling raw material with an overhead crane, setting up machines, and cutting parts with metalworking equipment in the saw/burn area.

Day shift opportunities include working 4x10 hour days. The successful candidate will read drawings, operate multiple machines, and ensure parts meet specifications while followingLean and ISO 9001 standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience working safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating band saw or plasma-arc burn table is an asset.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience and certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings to cut parts to specification.
  • Set up and operate metalworking machines (band saw, burn table, brake press).
  • Inspect final parts to ensure correct dimensions per drawings.
  • Operate overhead crane, gantry crane, and forklift per safety standards.
  • Assist with training new operators and contribute to continuous improvement.

Position Details

POSITION TITLE: Machine Operator

SHIFT: Day Shift

HOURLY RATE: $21.50 – $23.00

LOCATION: Barrie, Ontario

MacLean Engineering is looking for a Machine Operator in our Metal-cutting area (saw / burn) to join our growing aftermarket production team in Barrie Ontario. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team, supplying aftermarket parts for heavy mobile mining equipment to various customers internationally, and to our other Ontario manufacturing plants. About the Position

This Machine Operator position involves handling raw material with an overhead crane, machine setup, and cutting parts with a number of metalworking machines. This position requires the following proficiencies:

  • Read and interpret drawings and layout parts as required to cut, burn or bend component parts to specification
  • Set up and operate two or more of a number of metalworking machines such as; band saw, burn table or manual brake press
  • Measure final goods to ensure they conform to correct dimensions and/or other specifications on drawings
  • Operate material handling devices such as; overhead crane, gantry crane, and forklift in compliance with applicable safety standards and best practices.
  • Material handling includes safe rigging and transportation of various loads
  • Adopt and practice good housekeeping, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Ability to distinguish between various types of raw materials
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining raw material racking and storage area
  • Responsible for safely organizing finished goods onto correct material handling carts
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assist with the training of new Machine Operators
  • Abide by all applicable regulatory and company-specific safety standards
  • Abide by ISO 9001 Quality Management System and associated procedures
  • Contribute to continual improvement of safety, quality, product, production, work environment
  • Willing to cross-train in other departments as needed on a temporary basis
About You
  • Previous experience working safely in a manufacturing environment operating equipment
  • Experience operating a band saw or plasma-arc burn table is an asset
  • Experience operating a laser table preferred
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience and certification is an asset.
  • Eager and willing to learn and progress.

Shift Details

Day Shift: 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday (4 x 10 hour shifts)
