Position Title: Machine Learning Specialist
Reports To: Director, Data Science
Department: Individual Data Analytics
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

Equitable is seeking a full-time Machine Learning Specialist to join its Data and Analytics team. This role will support the development and deployment of ML solutions that enhance business processes and drive strategic goals across the organization.

What you will be doing
  • Acquisition, preparation and staging data for ML projects
  • Implementation and productionization of ML models in various data environments under guidance of Director Data Science, Sr Machine Learning Specialist and/or Data Scientists
  • Own and deliver on projects of moderate scope and handle assigned tasks of more advanced scope
  • Build ML algorithms in collaboration with data scientists
  • Work with data scientists to monitor ongoing results of implemented models
  • Maintain data environments related to Individual Insurance Data Insights and Enablement projects
  • Visualization of ML project results
  • Implement measurement and documentation framework against all project work
  • Contribute to discussions related to analytics methodology, tools, and measurement
  • Innovate and find creative ways to source data to support modeling efforts
  • Peer review and code review other team members work
What you will bring
  • An advanced degree in computer science, data science, data analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field is required. Candidates must have a specialization in ML, AI, cognitive science or data science
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in data management roles or data science teams
  • Proficient in deploying and maintaining Machine Learning models
  • Expertise in database design, data management, and ETL
  • Significant knowledge of Python (including ML libraries), MS SQL Server or similar, scheduling/automation tools and frameworks
  • Experience in API development
  • Experience working in Microsoft Windows Server and Linux environments
  • Experience working in Microsoft Azure or similar environments an asset
  • Understanding and practical knowledge of Git and CI/CD workflows
  • Financial Services experience an asset
  • Good business communication skills with non-data focused business partners
