This full-time position is based at Downey Home Hardware at 1106 Cleveland, Riverview, New Brunswick.

Position Overview:

The Lumber & Building Materials Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, managing the sales team, and developing customer relationships across the lumber and building materials and commercial division. This role ensures that the company’s sales strategies align with market opportunities, customer needs, and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share and profitability.
  • Establish sales goals and monitor performance metrics.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings to review progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Customer & Market Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key contractors, builders, and retail customers.
  • Identify new business opportunities and emerging markets within the LBM sector.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and resolve client issues promptly.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, community events, and industry associations.
Strategic & Financial Management
  • Collaborate with Senior Strategic Pricing and Purchasing Manager on pricing strategies, margin control, and promotional programs.
  • Develop annual sales forecasts and budgets for the LBM division.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market trends to adapt sales tactics accordingly.
  • Work closely with purchasing, logistics, and operations to ensure efficient supply chain and inventory levels.
Team Development
  • Recruit, train, and develop sales staff to ensure product knowledge and selling skills are at a high standard.
  • Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Foster a team-oriented culture that promotes collaboration and accountability.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, or a related field is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales management within the Lumber & Building Materials or construction supply industry.
  • Strong understanding of LBM products, market dynamics, and distribution channels.
  • Proven ability to lead a sales team and achieve measurable results.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
