This posting is open to WRDSB employees who are members of the EA Association as well as external applicants. Staff already in an LTO are not eligible to apply to this posting if it will conflict with their current LTO. All Long Term Occasional assignments are subject to a revised end date with 2‑week notice.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Must be a member of the EA Association or a qualified external applicant.
  • Pass a Physical Demands test.
  • Physical demands test must be passed for any EA/CYW without existing Permanent/LTO Level D hours.
  • Educational Assistant qualifications (from an accredited post‑secondary institution):
    • Certified Teacher Educational Assistant Diploma or Educational Support Diploma.
    • Developmental Service Worker (DSW) program graduate.
    • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW).
    • Social Services Diploma (SSW).
  • Alternative EA qualifications with experience:
    • Post‑secondary degree in Sociology and a minimum of 1 year (1,224 hours) of related work experience supporting special needs children.
    • Minimum 6‑month diploma in a child‑related discipline and a minimum of 1 year (1,224 hours) of related work experience.
    • Minimum 6‑month certificate in a child‑related discipline and a minimum of 1 year (1,224 hours) of related work experience.
    • Post‑secondary degree/diploma that is complementary to supporting special needs children and a minimum of 1 year (1,224 hours) of related work experience.
    • Significant volunteer experience may be considered in lieu of work experience.
  • Legal Compliance:
    • Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a Police Service on or before every fifth anniversary.
    • Annual offence declaration.
    • Valid first aid and CPR certificate, with registration to update training within the year.
Assets
  • Valid Behaviour Management Systems certification.
  • Proven ability and recent experience working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilities.
  • School‑based experience.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Training.
  • Lifting/Positioning Training.
Interview Process
