Job summary

OPENLANE is seeking a Lot Assistant in Richmond, BC, to coordinate vehicle inventory and prepare vehicles for transport and auction. The role is onsite with hours from 7:30am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, and requires safety-minded, organized, and dependable individuals with a customer-service focus.

You will record service details, photograph vehicles, assist with stock checkouts, and help keep the lot orderly under varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 Drivers’ license is required.
• Basic computer & smartphone skills required.
• Experience working outside in all weather conditions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are ready for auction and in working order.
• Accurately record services provided for billing purposes.
• Photograph vehicles post-reconditioning and document conditions.

OPENLANE, a leader in automotive remarketing, is looking for a Lot Assistant with experience in coordinating vehicle inventory. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working at a dealership or similar organization, controlling vehicle inventory, and preparing vehicles for transport. ***This is a full-time position, and hours may range from 7:30am - 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.*** **You Are:**● **Adaptable**. You will operate a variety of motor vehicles safely, per our driver safety procedures● **Organized.** You will be responsible for maintaining an organized and orderly lot to ensure efficient operations, including completing regular inventory scans **You Will:**● Ensure vehicles are ready for auction and ensuring vehicles are in working order (i.e. boosting, adding gas, attending to lock outs, preparing for towing, and filling tires)● Accurately record any services provided (fuel, tow, etc) to ensure accurate billing● Photograph vehicles post-reconditioning services● Provides customer service by assisting customers or other internal departments in retrieving their vehicles● Assist with vehicle stock in & check out process● Operate vehicles under various weather conditions and may be required to manually remove snow through various means (clearing vehicles of snow, light shoveling in the yard, operatingplow truck, bobcat, loader, etc.)● Assist with snow and ice removal from lots, walkways, and egress routes.● Inspect the interior of vehicles, cataloging all personal items (electronics, documents, clothing, valuables) on a formal inventory sheet.● Safely remove personal belongings from the vehicle cabin and trunk without causing damage to the items or the vehicle.● Photograph items and vehicle conditions, ensuring accurate matching of the items to the correct Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or impound file.● Transfer and store removed property in a secure, climate-controlled, or locked holding area for a mandated statutory retention period (often 30+ days).● Maintain the exterior of the property, including light landscaping, removing trash, and general upkeep● General custodial duties, including cleaning of floors, and groundskeeping● Assist Lot Manager with identifying and completing maintenance projects and repairs **Must Haves:**● High School diploma or equivalent● Valid Class 5 Drivers’ license is required● Basic computer & smartphone skills required● Experience working outside in all weather conditions● Strong customer service and communication skills **Nice to Haves:**● Ability to drive both standard & automatic transmissions● Ability to bend, reach, and lift medium-to-heavy boxes or items from tight vehicle spaces.● High level of accuracy in record-keeping, labeling, and data entry to prevent lost or misattributed property claims.● Professional demeanor when interacting with distressed or upset vehicle owners claiming their possessions.● Bilingual in French and English is ideal● Qualified/Experienced in operating plow trucks, bobcats, loaders, and/ or tow trucks is strongly preferred● Being licensed to operate motorcycles or ATVs**Sound like a match?
