Job summary

Job description

Location: Winnipeg, MB R2P 2J7

Salary: $31.00 hourly / 35 to 50 hours per week

Employment: Permanent full time. Overtime, shifts, on call, flexible hours.

Responsibilities
  • Address customers' complaints or concerns
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • Load and unload goods
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Pay and receive payments for goods
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods
Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: Experience an asset
  • Credentials: Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
  • Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Inspection report (pre-trip, en‑route, post‑trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports
  • Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated, Tractor‑trailer, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
  • Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Driving record check (abstract)
  • Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding, Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
  • Personal suitability: Flexibility, Judgement, Organized, Reliability, Team player
