Job summary

A transportation company is looking for Long Haul Truck Drivers to operate and transport goods across North America. This permanent, full-time position offers an hourly wage of $36.00 for 35 to 44 hours a week. Basic knowledge of English and a driver's license (Class 1 or A) are required. Applicants must be willing to travel cross-border and undergo security clearances. We welcome applicants from Aboriginals and New Immigrants.

Qualifications

• Previous experience is an asset, on job training will be provided.
• Basic security clearance and medical exam are required.
• Candidate should be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive trucks to transport goods across North America.
• Loading and unloading of goods, ensuring safety and security of cargo.
• Plan travel schedules and use trip planning aids.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Inspect vehicle condition and maintain log book.

Skills

Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A)

Title: Long Haul Truck Driver

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Weekend, Day, Night, Early Morning

Salary: $36.00 Hourly, for 35 to 44 hours per week

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Various Locations across Canada and America (5 vacancies)

Skill Requirements:

• Education: Not required
• Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
• Experience: Previous experience is an asset, on job training will be provided.
• Languages: Basic Knowledge of English is required
• Type of Travel: Long-haul, National, International
• Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trans-border documentation, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports
• Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment
• Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Specific Skills:

• Operate and drive trucks to transport goods across North America, specifically heavy haul and over dimensional loads.
• Loading and unloading of goods, tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo.
• Plan travel schedules and routes, use atlases and other trip planning aids.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatcher.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Perform brake adjustments.
• Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
• Maintain log book for each trip.

Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding

Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, willing to travel overnight, willing to travel as two-person team, valid driver's license
