Job Details

Title: Long haul truck driver

Employer: Hunter Express Ltd.

Location: 1940 Steeles Ave E Brampton, ON L6T 1A7 (On site)

Salary: $36.10 per hour

Hours: 40 to 60 hours per week (Full time, Permanent)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Vacancies: 5

Responsibilities
  • Address customers' complaints or concerns
  • Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques
  • Professionalism in customer service
  • Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations
  • Drive lighter, special purpose trucks
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods
Qualifications

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma.

Experience: Will train.

Language: English.

Credentials: AZ class license. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en‑route, post‑trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans‑border documentation.

Security and safety checks: Criminal record check, Driver's validity licence check, Drug test.

Transportation/travel: Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel cross‑border.

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail, Large workload, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks.

Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Judgement, Team player, Hardworking.
