Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. Edmonton Poultry is seeking a Logistics Team Leader to oversee shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory activities in our Edmonton facility. You will lead a cross‑functional team and drive safety, quality, and on‑time product movement.

Shift 10:00am–6:30pm, Monday–Friday with some evenings/nights for vacation coverage. This role offers exposure to a fast‑growing operation, competitive compensation, and opportunities for development within our supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Experience with HACCP and health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in a warehouse or cross-dock environment.
  • Proven initiative and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory activities.
  • Supervise warehouse team members with timely execution of tasks.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, allergen management, and records.
  • Coordinate with transporters, production, and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, GMP, HACCP and regulatory standards.
  • Promote safety culture through OH&S compliance and training.
  • Lead daily team meetings and drive improvements in safety, quality, service, and cost.
  • Coach team members and manage performance and succession.
  • Foster relations with union and employees; administer policies.
  • Build relationships across departments to meet objectives.

An exciting opportunity has opened up for one (1) energetic, results oriented individual within one of Maple Leaf Foods fastest growing markets. Maple Leaf Foods, Edmonton Poultry is a well-established progressive company.


We are currently recruiting for one (1) qualified and capable individual to assist management. We have one (1) vacancy in the Shipping/Receiving Department from 10:00am – 6:30pm, with flexibility to work evenings/nights on occasion to provide vacation and necessary coverage.


Job Summary

Oversee the department, the people and systems, actively participate and be involved in a high performance cross-functional team environment.


Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To


  • Lead all shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory activities to support safe, efficient, and accurate product movement.

  • Supervise warehouse team members, ensuring timely execution of shipping, receiving, picking, put‑away, and inventory control processes.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, allergen management, and documentation, including vendor damage claims and shipment records.

  • Coordinate with transportation providers, production, supply chain teams, and third‑party partners to meet operational requirements.

  • Ensure all logistics activities comply with quality, food safety, GMP, HACCP, and regulatory standards.

  • Promote a strong safety culture through compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements, hazard prevention, and employee training.

  • Lead daily team meetings, communicate performance expectations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, service, and cost.

  • Develop, coach, and support team members through training, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Foster positive employee and union relations through effective communication, problem‑solving, and administration of the Collective Agreement and company policies.

  • Build collaborative relationships across Production, FSQA, Health & Safety, Reliability, and Supply Chain to achieve departmental and plant objectives.

  • Working experience in a warehouse or cross‑dock environment

  • Proven initiative and leadership skills

  • Continuous learner and willingness to embrace change

  • Experience and commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Knowledge of HACCP and Provincial Health and Safety Regulations

  • Superior communication skills in a multi‑cultural environment and the ability to deal with a variety of front line employee relations issues

  • A good listener with excellent written communication skills

  • Self‑directed, mature and professional approach to project work

  • Well established organizational skills to manage multiple tasks


Working Conditions


  • Must be physically fit and able to multitask, quickly adjusting from one task to another

  • Presence will be required on the production floor for long periods of time
