Element Materials Technology Ltd. is seeking a Login Technician to join our Edmonton operations team.

You will receive and inspect samples, record client information in LIMS, assign analysis requirements, and generate sample labels to ensure accurate processing. The role requires strong organization, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with colleagues to meet client timelines.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in chemistry or science or related experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year in a general service role.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety preferred.
  • Data entry and computer skills.
  • Ability to work alone periodically.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete daily tasks without constant direction.

Responsibilities

  • Receive samples, and document receipt.
  • Prioritize samples and workflow to ensure timely progression into the lab to meet client demands.
  • Enter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels.
  • Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location.
  • Determine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping.
  • General duties as directed by the team leader or operations manager.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with Health and Safety Policy.

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Login Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Login Technician will be responsible for receipt and inspection of samples, recording all client sample information in LIMS, assigning analysis requirements, and generating sample labels. The Login Technician will prioritize and organize samples and workflow, to ensure efficient processing of samples into the lab, in order to meet client demands. The successful candidate will become proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Skills / Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in chemistry or other science related field, or high school diploma with related experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 yr experience in a general service role
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety preferred
  • Data entry and computer skills
  • Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day
  • Understand what must be completed each work day and take the initiative to complete those tasks properly and in a timely manner - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is
  • Ability to re-direct original plan in order to prioritize client samples as required
  • Able to work well with others and collaborate with co-workers
  • Will be working with gas and oil samples, cylinders
  • Ability to identify potential issues with information provided
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work flow

Physical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
  • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to perform computer based tasks for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically using safe lifting techniques
