Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate individual who is looking for a calling, not just a job. This is an opportunity for a dedicated culinarian to immerse themselves in a remote wilderness lifestyle where your work, creativity, and daily experience are one and the same. The Chef is a key leadership role. Because we operate both a lodge and a busy adventure company, you must be highly autonomous and capable of managing the lodge kitchen independently while the owner is leading expeditions in the field. Our kitchen is a wide-open concept; you must be a "Host-Chef"; professionally presentable, deeply hospitable, and genuinely comfortable interacting with international guests, media, and professional film crews. We aren't just looking for someone to cook; we are looking for a partner in the lodge experience who thrives in the serenity and challenges of the Yukon.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Menu Innovation: Design and execute high-end menus including International & Northern Fusion and specialized dietary styles (Vegan, Keto, Gluten-Free).
  • Sustainable Sourcing: Harvest local plants, flowers, and herbs from northern lands and our gardens to create authentic Yukon flavors.
  • Autonomous Leadership: Full responsibility for kitchen operations and lodge management in the owner's absence.
  • Team Spirit: In our small boutique environment, we all work together. You are willing to assist with extra duties (such as cleaning or guest support) when the situation requires.
  • Excellence: Manage inventory, food costing, and maintain premium plating and sanitation.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years of Chef or senior culinary leadership experience in fine dining or boutique settings.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional manners and presentation for a guest-facing open kitchen.
  • Logistics: NO ACCOMMODATION PROVIDED. Candidates must be local residents or have a secured housing plan in Haines Junction.
  • Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for the 9 km commute from town.
  • Language: Proficiency in English; French is highly valued.
